A note about the 2025 Rafting Season

We are excited for another perfectly wonderful 2025 rafting season. Let's go! We are currently running all of our 1/2-day and full day trips on the Upper and Lower Kern river sections, with the exception of our overnight “Sierra Escape” trips, Thunder Runs and Forks trips. Thunder Run and Forks trips will start mid-May and Sierra Escape trips will start as early as Memorial Day Weekend.

We can’t wait to share our favorite river with you this season!

Since our inception, Whitewater Voyages' motto and continuing goal has been to foster an environment where "Adventure, Friendship, and Growth" permeates our trips. "Adventure" is naturally and amply supplied by the nature of the beautiful stretches of river we run. Whether newly formed, rekindled, or reinforced over the course of a river trip, "Friendship" is one of the key element of all of our trips. Closure has been lifted by Tulare County Sheriffs Office ‼️ All Rivers in Tulare County Open, Use Caution As water flows have slowed in Tulare County waterways, Sheriff Mike Boudreaux has rescinded all river restrictions throughout the county, including the Kings River, Kaweah River, St. John’s River, Tule River and Kern River. However, Tulare County rivers are still dangerous, and people need to use caution. People familiar with the rivers will notice different water patterns compared to years past due erosion, fallen trees and extra debris. There are numerous downed trees, which create “strainers.” A strainer is when turbulent water flows through a tree. A person caught in a strainer can quickly find themselves pinned against the tree or swept underneath it. Keep in mind that the Tule River is essentially inaccessible due to a road closure at Highway 190 and Rio Vista Drive, in Springville, because of road construction. Please use good judgement when entering the water, which is about 60 degrees. Exposure to cold water can cause hypothermia which can quickly lead to exhaustion or unconsciousness. • Wear a life jacket. • Use high quality boating equipment (rafts and tubes made of durable rubber – no pool floaties). • Stay out of the water if you’re not an experienced swimmer. • Do not mix alcohol and swimming. • Always keep a close eye on your children.

Action from the last storm! If you were debating on whether you should book a rafting trip this summer, the answer is a HECK YES!! 🙌🏾 The Upper Kern River peaked at 17,784cfs around midnight last night. We woke up to a 114% snowpack of April 1 (and the snow storm in the plateaus hasn’t ended yet). The lake is now sitting at over 76,000 acre feet & climbing. There are a few more storms to come this January. And, some of Riverside Park & the walking path was under water last night! 😮 Our snow dancing is working and our dreams of running our famed 2-Day Lower Kern, Sierra Escape are coming true!
